Islamic is universal and teaches what's best for mankind, not only the Muslim Ummah alone. So if something is declared wrong in Islam, it is wrong in the eyes of Allah and the eyes of Muhammad s.a.w. With knowledge comes responsibility lot of people tend not to understand. They believe they hold the truth and now they must spread it to everyone. Well, for example a scene from the Matrix where Morpheus is telling Neo that most people aren't ready to be unplugged. Well, similar situation here. People who don't seek the truth SINCERELY are not ready.Because they simply cannot handle the truth and may go more astray than they already are.
It is actually mentioned in the hadith. Prophet s.a.w. mentioned that there will be a time where his Ummah will go through such suffering. When questioned why, he replied that his Ummah will be largest in number but weak in faith. The Sahaba then questioned what is the Ummah to do in such a situation. He said that they should go towards the Qur'an. The Qur'an is sufficient to overcome the situation.
